Ski Resort near Boulder? 1st time in Colorado.

We've decided to fly to Colorado this year for skiing. We're using USAir companion tickets so we need to go ahead and book air by 10/30/07. I'm curious to start looking into resorts. I did a search but didn't find much. Can anyone get me started? I'd appreciate the help. We'll have my 8 yr old grandson with us so something with a bunny slope, tow rope preferably, tubing. The place we've stayed in WV you can walk right out to the slopes - that'd be nice as well.

The closest ski area to Boulder is Eldora: http://eldora.com/

It's about a 35 min. drive. www.eldora.com/mountainInfo/gettingHere.cfm

A great place for kids to learn to ski. They don't offer tubing, however. There is no lodging there.

If you are planning to stay at the ski area the closest one would be Winter Park.:

I've only skied there once so can't provide much info. I'll let the WP experts chime in.

Colorado has some of the world's best skiing. From Boulder in less than 2 hours can ski: Keystone, Breckinridge, Cooper and Winter Park. I can recommend all of them for beginners. All the resorts have programs for kids. If you are there on the weekends be ready for major traffic jams on I-70. I know the Cooper has a tubing hill.

Relative to walking from you place to the slopes. All resorts have that option for a price.

If you want to say somewhere inexpensive, try Snow Mountain Ranch YMCA camp. From there you can ski Winter Park. The also have many activities for kids including swimming. Get a cabin if you can afford it and one is available
