As a Boulder native (tho I don't currently live there) and part owner of property in Boulder, I would not want to encourage people to be spending the night on the streets of Boulder in their vans.
Please find a place that is appropriate. You can camp for free in the National Forests at places that are not official campgrounds. There are Walmarts outside of Boulder that usually allow people to "camp" in their parking lots.

There is a lodge just up Boulder Canyon that has a few rv type spots. You may want to check this out. http://www.bouldermountainlodge.com/
