Car rental or van transfers

Hi Again,

We a group of 7 girls coming in to Eagle Airport in January for a snowboard weekend. The original plan was to use one of the bus or taxi services to transfer to our rented house at the Enclave. But based on the prices I've found, a car rental might be cheaper. Taking the weather into consideration, how difficult is the drive from the airport to the resort? Or the drive between BC and Vail? Also, is parking an issue? Thanks again.

Driving from Airport will be on plowed and sanded roads, mostly snow-packed which is normal in mountains here. Easy does it makes it safe! Shuttles abound between BC and Vail, you will not likely drive there for riding, but accessing the nightlife and shopping maybe. Parking is limited, but public garages are available for a few hours if you can park at the Enclave at no or at least reasonable additional cost.

Your home at The Enclave should have a garage so you could rent a car IF you can get something LARGE enough for 7 girls & ALL that gear. Consider shipping stuff out beforehand if there is a lot and if your management company will accept deliveries. This is one of the main reasons the shuttle makes more sence as most people have so much stuff! You will use the free resort shuttles anyway to get to the hill as parking rates during the day are pricey. Beaver Creek has a free shuttle & dail-a-ride service which will pick you up at the Enclave & take you to the slopes in B.C. From there, you can transfer onto a bus which goes to Vail for a couple of bucks. Worth it. In the evenings, the parking is usually free so you could drive into Vail if you did rent a car, for the nightlife & park with no problem, or the buses back & forth run late.

Eagle to BC would be a relativly easy drive as it is lower in elevation than driving the passes from Denver. Straight shot on I-70 which is kept in great condition.
