Best Western Sunset Plaza v. Andaz

Already have a reservation at the Best Western for 3 nights and the Andaz is within this price range. Traveling with 2 tween-age children so, of course, a pool is important, but I'm more concerned with the level of noise at night and convenience of parking since we will have a rental car. Any thoughts? Both hotels were rated very high so I'm thinking I'll be okay with the Best Western, but would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Not sure what you mean by 'the convenience of parking'. Both properties have parking facilities that you pay extra for. Parking in the neighborhood is expensive. The Sunset Strip (where these hotels are located) is one of the two most popular areas for nightlife in L.A. It's a 1.5 mile stretch of Sunset Bl packed with hotels, restaurants, bars, some boutique shopping and live music venues.

I live nearby and wouldn't describe it as quiet or even child-friendly. On the weekends. the traffic along Sunset Bl is often at a standstill. There are huge lines in front of the various venues as well as the parking structures.

If it were me, I'd stay somewhere else.

Sunset Plaza's in-and-out parking entrance is on a side street so it's pretty easy. Nice pool (did you ask for poolside rooms?) and light breakfast. It's a better family hotel, no "flash" at all (though nicely renovated) but if you think your kids would be impressed with some high-tech glitz you might try the Andaz. Andaz was formerly the "Riot Hyatt" hotel. Parking at Sunset Plaza is $12 and the Andaz is around $25.

Thank you both for your informative replies! I will stay with the Best Western and through Google Earth discovered that I can bypass Sunset Blvd. by using Fountain Ave. to De Longpre and enter the parking structure behind the hotel. Looking forward to my trip!
