Another winery question

Traveling with my sister to Healdsburg in April. We want to visit wineries not only to taste but also peak inside the wine making process. She's a chardonnay drinker while I prefer pinot noirs or zins. I have been to Napa but she's never been to wine country before. I loved Paraduxx in the Napa Valley, beautiful setting but only tasting no tour. Any suggestions for a fun informative tour and also suggestions for wineries that have exceptionally beautiful tasting rooms or outdoor areas? i just want her to have an overview not a chemistry lesson. I guess I should add that we are in our 50's. Thank you!

Don't miss Ferrari-Caramo for the gorgeous grounds and very nice wines. :).

I've heard that Sterling Vineyards, in the northern end of the Napa Valley, has an informative self-guided tour, plus a beautiful gondola ride to the winery at the top of the hill.

Chappellet and Ram's Gate! Seriously, Ram's Gate has stunning architecture, great views, good wine, and they serve food too. http://www.ramsgatewinery.com

Chappellet is a super nice, low-key spot, with dramatic views. They are pretty unpretentious, and it's a chill atmosphere. Really great Cab there, and it's very much off the beaten path, way up on top of a mountain in St. Helena. Great place for a more intimate tasting, and they have a rich history in the Napa Valley so there's a lot of great information to pick up on.

Make reservations and print directions before you go. http://www.chappellet.com
