Winery Suggestions

We will be making our first trip to Sonoma in September. We would like some winery suggestions. We enjoy reds including cabs, pinos and blends. We would also like to tour some beautiful wineries. We enjoy champagne as well. Also, are there any wineries in the area that serve lunch?

We have a preference for the smaller family owned wineries - one I think you will like is the Robert Hunter Winery in Sonoma. www.roberthunterwinery.com/Welcome.html

They produce small lots of sparking wine - a Robert Hunter Brut de Noirs, and a very nice Pinot Noir, as well as Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon.

As others said - not too many wineries with restaurants (Corks and Coppola were already mentioned and are good choices), however, if the weather is nice, picking up a picnic lunch at one of the many fine delis in and around Sonoma, and take a tasting at one of the top wineries for a picnic spot, buy a bottle of your favorite from the tasting, and enjoy the view and no corkage fee! Some of the best picnic spots are Robert Hunter, Stryker, Bartholomew, Rochioli, and Benziger. Enjoy!
