Jack London State Historical Park

Does anyone have the most current info (9-13-11) on whether the park is still open? I just read elsewhere it was to be closed as of May 2011. Thanks for your help!

There has been a lot of confusion over the State Park closings and restricted hours.

One official web site for Jack London says to look at the restricted hours (it is closed on Tuesday and Wednesday.

http://www.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=478

Here is the other official site which announces that all three parks in the area will be closed beginning Sept 11, and not later than early in 2012

If you are coming soon and it is still open try not to miss it. It is 800 acres of his "Beauty Ranch" with his farm buildings, the house he and Charmian lived in with their treasures from the south Sea travels, and miles of trails.

Hi Indiana! Currently the Park is closed on Tues. and Wed. The "official" closure date given by the State is not until July 1, 2012. However, there now appears to be a good possibility that the local volunteer group, Valley of the Moon Natural History Association may be able to take over management of the Park and prevent its closure. I hope you'll be able to schedule a visit during your stay as Jack London is a very impressive historic and scenic treasure in Sonoma Valley. The trail to the reservoir, the trail to Wolf House ruins, Jack London's cottage, and the House of Happy Walls museum are all noteworthy.

Thanks for your info! Would you believe we are coming in on Tuesday and leaving on Wednesday? So it appears we will have to miss the park; I had always wanted to visit it since I love his books, but..... Appreciate your input, however!

As our luck would have it, we will be arriving on a Tuesday and departing on Wednesday, so we will be unable to visit the park. Drats. Thanks for your info, however. Maybe the next time!
