Pico Blvd Santa Monica - a safe place?

Hi everyone,

I'll be staying at the Travelodge (3102 Pico Blvd) in Santa Monica and I was wondering if

a) this a good hotel and

b) if the neighboordhood is safe to stay?

Thanks.

It's a safe area, yes. It's the border of Santa Monica and LA, not close to the downtown sights of SM like the beach and Pier, but they are easy to reach by bus.

Lots of great restaurants and bars in the neighborhood within walking distance: Upper West, Freddy Smalls, Vito, Lares, Arsenal, Valentino, Don Antonio's and more.

Not sure what you mean by 'good hotel'. It's a 2-star hotel which simply means that it's extremely BASIC -- no restaurants in the hotel or room service or porters/bellmen, or pool.

As far as reviews on the hotel, here are some from the tripadvisor website (link and SCROLL DOWN for the reviews):

tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g33052-d82079-R…

The hotel is ranked #9 out of 34 hotels in Santa Monica in terms of 'customer satisfaction' which basically relates to how guests felt about their stay (how they were treated and how much the hotel met their needs).
