Loews or doubletree

Just wondering what people would recommend for 2 nights in Santa Monica for 2 adults and 2 children (14&12)

I want something that will be easier to walk to pier and 3rd street promenade etc

Thank you

1. Re: Loews or doubletree

Loews is on the beach (sort of), Doubletree sits on top of a freeway entrance and across from the police station.

Loews is the best place for teenagers and families, it's much more upscale than the Doubletree, and you have a view of the beach from the pool (and not the sound of the freeway and sirens).

No contest.

If it's your money I'm spending -- Loews.

Thanks guys. I think I will go with Loews.

How far is Loews from 3rd street promenade?

Sorry forgot to ask, is it worth paying extra for a ocean view room?

Most of the rooms there have an ocean view - but few have full views, they are mostly a little obscured, or at an angle. Most rooms face the pool, which is fine.

Promenade is 2 blocks away, 5 minute walk.

Loews is an excellent choice, if you are there during a sunday, make sure to have there brunch, lounging poolside is quite an experience
