I don't know, but that would be one horribly long bus ride either way. Have you considered flying into San Jose instead? Then you could take the Hwy 17 express to Santa Cruz or one of the airporter shuttles. You'll save a bunch of time and it probably wont cost you any more - it might even end up being cheaper.
No, you will have to transfer buses in Los Angeles. It will be significantly faster and slightly cheaper to fly. Specifically, fly from Las Vegas (LAS) to San Jose (SJC). This route has frequent service by Southwest.
From SJC, you can reach Santa Cruz by taking the free VTA Route 10 airport shuttle (http://www.vta.org) to the Santa Clara Caltrain Station. From there, take either VTA Route 22 or 522 south/east to the bus stop on the street just outside of Diridon Station in downtown San Jose. From there, take the Highway 17 Express bus to Santa Cruz. The Highway 17 Express information is included on the VTA Web site. It should be listed as Route 970, which is just a filing number and not what it's actually called.
Thank you for the info. My husband are I are planning our holiday for next year and we definitely want to go back to Vegas but we've both wanted to go to Santa Cruz since we saw The Lost Boys in our teens so we thought we'd do both trips as one holiday. A plane to San Jose sounds like a much better plan, thanks for the tip.
