What is the nightlife like in December? Anything that involves drinking and/or dancing would be nice...

Had an excellent night out at Ruby's Cafe 734 State Street) on a Tuesday. If I remember correctly we had a mexican meal (about 8pm) and it was followed by Latin and Swing dancing at 9pm. We did a bit of dancing, but were very well entertained by some of the locals, who were great dancers.

Also went to Arthur Murray Dance Studio (222 Carrillo Street) on a Wednesday where they have swing dancing (or anything you want) for FREE. They were very welcoming. You need to take your own drinks as it is just a practice room for a dance studio.

The Independent, a weekly entertainment newspaper in SB, publishes an annual Best of list voted on by locals. This year's winners would be a good place to start. Categories run the gamut from best place to dance - Wildcat Lounge, a multi-party category winner, to the stiffest drinks - Joe's Cafe. The list is at: http://www.independent.com/cover/Cover987.htm

Nightlife in SB!!!

Joe's has the strongest drinks...is right downtown and next to all the other bars with lots of action no matter what time of year. Just pop out on State Street between the 600 and the 800 block and off you go!
