Bay Area best for night out

travelling from the Uk for a boarding trip to Lake Tahoe

We finish boarding on a Friday afternoon in south Lake Tahoe and then fly back from San Francisco on a sunday afternoon

Both of us have been to San franciso before so do not really fancy spending any time there

We really fancy a good night out on the town, meal, bars, clubs and some good shopping, we were thinking Sacremento and......

There seem quite a few places around, i.e. is Berkely a good place due to the University etc?

We have a SUV and fancy outlet as well as Mall shopping

Please let me know your thoughts

I think you could either visit areas of Sacramento, or use it as a base point for visiting various areas, such as Gold Country, Wine Country, or the River/Delta area.

Wine Country areas are well documented here on TA, check Sonoma, Napa and Santa Rosa.

Gold Country is highlighted at:

and other sites that area googleable.

Sacramento intown is fun in itself. Hotels, restaurants, shopping, nightclubs abound. J and K Streets east of the Capitol area are vibrant.

History and culture are to be found, museums are listed at:

If you want to visit Berkley, perhaps you could hit that area on Sunday, on the way to airport. Keep asking questions here on Sac TA, and hope you have a great time.
