Thirft Stores and Garage Sales?

(This is cross-posted on the Corona forum)

We're traveling to Corona soon to help our 18 yo daughter move in to an apartment. (Staying at the Springhill Suites.) Any tips for:

1. Good thrift stores in the area (furniture, household, kitchen items)

2. Where to access garage sale advertisements?

Thank you!

Check out craigslist.com for garage sale info and google for thrift stores. I think you might find that Discovery Shop or Assistance League thrift stores may have a bit higher end items at Goodwll prices.

Or--look for IKEA--they have kitchen in a box and some other things that are as cheap, if not cheaper, than thrift stores.

Good advice about Ikea! They have lots of things to stock the kitchen too like inexpensive utensils, bowl, glasses, etc, bedding too! the nearest Ikea to Corona would be Costa Mesa, about 35 minutes away (unless its rush hour)

I'd check the newspaper for yard sales, or just drive around & look for signs. there is the private school (La Sierra University/west Riverside) near to Corona & some students may be getting rid of stuff check their Student center?

Don't forget the Salvation Army thrift store too!

or the ebay classifieds, formerly Kiiji.com, google either to find site & sort by city name.

Thanks. I've already back from the trip. We were able to find most of the stuff we needed at garage sales and thrift stores. I was amazed how early some people start their garage sales - 6:00am or 7:00!

You should have gone up to Fresno for garage sales. A guy recently bought a box of glass negatives at a garage sale. Lawyers of course are fighting over it but if they turn out real they are the lost Ansel Adams negatives worth $200 million. About a year and a half ago a woman in Fresno bought an old wooden box. It contained the world's most valuable baseball card which she sold for a couple million.

Yeah, read bout both those gems, but didn't realize they were both in Fresno. That's crazy.

And to think we flew into Fresno two weeks ago and only spent enough time in town to pick up a rental car and drive to a quaint little national park up the road. Heard Adams took some snapshots there....
