I believe there are fire rings on the beach and it is first come first served to use them. You need to bring your own wood. There is no charge for the use of the beach.

There are NO firepits on the beach in Pismo Beach. Avila (a short distance from Pismo) does allow controlled fires on the beach between the Unocal (metal) pier and the Old Port Inn pier near the entrance to Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant. Take the 101 FWY north to the Avila Road offramp and follow the signs. The road takes you through a woodsy area where you will pass Sycamore Mineral Springs to your left. Eventually you'll pass a golf course on your right. Stay on Avila Road, cross the bridge over San Luis Creek, drive past San Luis Bay Inn (a huge pinkish timeshare hotel on a hill to your right) and you'll see the appropriate beach area for your fire to your left as you keep driving.

Another idea might be to stay at the Oceano Dunes. Then you could have a campfire, as opposed to a bonfire. Above poster is correct, only bonfires are at one small side beach at Avila (not the main beach).

There is a park with a bbq at Avila's main beach with grass. Could have a nice bbq family gathering there.
