Paso Robles Winery Recommendations

I am planning a day trip to Paso Robles to tour some wineries. Based on recommendations on TA, I am trying to choose 3, possibly 4, out of the following 5 (I just think 5 would be too many in one day). Does anyone know what each of these charge for their tasting rooms and/or tours? Also, all of these were recommended by various TA contributors, so I am assuming they are all worth visiting, but if you had to eliminate one or two, which would you choose to pass on? We like all kinds of wines, so that's not really a factor. But, we would like to experience some variety in types of wines and in winery settings.

Opolo

Calcareous

Adelaida

Tablas Creek

Thank you!

Not sure what the wineries listed charge for their tastings/tours (or if they even offer a tour), but of the 5 you list, I would choose Opolo, Calcareous & Tablas Creek.

All the wineries offer a variety of tastes starting with whites, moving to reds and often ends with a dessert type of wine.

Okay: Opolo offers tours with reservation

Tablas Creek and Justin are both excellent, I would keep them on the list. Justin makes a really nice red called "Justification" that has won numerous awards. Have fun! :)

I would keep Justin on your list and consider lunch in Deborahs room.

We also like Opolo and in the same area consider a stop at Linne Calodo.

If you want a really fun experience and don't mind driving to the other side of the highway try Tobin James.

Have fun and post any new wonderful finds you stumble upon...

We just got back from our trip to California and I wanted to thank everyone for your suggestions. We ended up visiting Opolo, Whalebone, Tablas Creek, and Justin. And, we also had a great time at Pasolivo Olive Oil. We liked them all (although I was a little miffed that Justin did not apply the price of the tasting fee to a bottle purchase). I really wanted to stop at a couple of more, but the family just gave out. We brought back a bottle from each in our luggage to enjoy later and help us remember our trip.

Oh, I love Pasolivo. Their Olio Nuovo is excellent!

I'm glad you checked out Whalebone. Did the folks behind the bar tell you about the proprietor? He used to be an Ob-Gyn, but an hand injury forced him out of medical practice. There is a photo collage above the bar of all the babies the doctor delivered during his career in medicine.
