Driving from Palm Springs to LAX/Long Beach?

Hey guys I have a global entry interview and never drove before in California. I can either go to LAX or Long Beach seaport 301 E. Ocean Blvd Room 805, Long Beach, CA, 90802 center to do interview- with that said, if I drive out from Palm Springs to either places, would you say that Long Beach is more preferable as it's less traffic compared to driving into LAX?

We are thinking of after the interview, we'll drive to Santa Monica too. So really prefer less hassles and traffics as possible. Thank you

Long Beach will be much easier from a traffic point of view but if you want to go to Santa Monica anyway, you'll have to pass LAX to get there.

Well the 91 freeway to get to Long Beach can really be a slow with traffic but then so can the drive to LAX but with the 60 to the 105 you could have a better ride. They are both about equidistant from Palm Springs and as Anitathetraveller wrote - if you want to go to Santa Monica afterward, then there is no question - go to LAX.

If you have some flexibility, do not travel between 3:30-4pm and 7pm or you will just sit in traffic so if necessary just hang around Santa Monica longer, there is plenty to do with the Pier (with rides and restaurants), you can walk between Santa Monica Pier and Venice Pier (or rent a bike) then there's the Promenade, etc.. If you hit the road at 8pm then you'd be back in Palm Springs in by 10pm. During rush hour it will be 3-4 hours (worst on Fridays). Traffic actually starts getting thicker after 1pm!

From Palm Springs take the 10 to the 60 to the 605 south, to the 105 west right into LAX. Takes two hours if you drive non commute hours. You avoid downtown LA traffic this way.
