Great White Shark at Linda Mar

Maybe this is the same shark that attacked a fisherman in a kayak off Pigeon Point a couple of weeks ago and bit holes in the boat. I think I mentioned that on the Pescadero or Half Moon Bay forum.

Now it's hungry again.

Surfers in shiny neoprene suits look like hors d'oeuvres to a shark. Not sure how they look to polar bears.

Seems we hear of more Great White Shark sightings in August than at any other time of the year on the coast.

The "Red Triangle" of Great White fame is off the coast and goes from about Point Reyes to Monterey Bay and out to the Farallones. It's Great White Heaven and sees lots of shark attacks.

I've read that the Marine Mammal Protection laws help sharks thrive. It's illegal to hunt or harm seals, sea lions, otters, dolphins, and some other critters, so the sharks' No. 1 rival for these delicacies is out of the picture. That leaves a bigger food supply in these waters for the GWs. Maybe there is something about their migratory patterns that makes the area more attractive to the sharks in the summer.
