Casual restaurant recommendation

I grew up in PG, but I'm very out of touch with the town lately. I'll be there on Wednesday to take my mom out to dinner. She doesn't want to go to the Fishwife because she had a bad experience there years ago. And I have been to Fandango a few times already so I'd like to try something different. What are the other options for something really tasty and not too expensive?

Kibblesmom knows whereof she speaks! All good suggestions. My favorites in that group are Red House Cafe (homey, quaint, and delicious food) and Taste Cafe and Bistro (a bit more elegant-looking and excellent food. Don't let the strip mall location fool you--it's really lovely inside). I'd suggest looking at the menus online. Most, if not all, of the restaurants mentioned have websites.

The Red House Cafe is really good, we had a very nice lunch there this past Dec. and would love to try dinner next time. :)

The menu looks really great. I think that's where we'll go. I'm looking forward to being in PG again--even if it's only for one evening.

So my mom and I ended up at the Red House Cafe, and I absolutely loved it!! Thank you again for the recommendations. It was so delicious. Polenta/mushrooms and beet salad to start and san dabs for dinner. Wow.

But can someone please answer this for me: When I drove up to it I thought to myself, oh this is where Toasties used to be. So I was disappointed that Toasties was gone. Then after dinner I noticed that Toasties was a block down the street. So what restuarant am I thinking of? What used to be in the location that Red House is now in? I am absolutely sure that I've been in there before; the interior is definitely familiar. But the name Red House Cafe didn't really ring a bell. So did it used to be something else?
