Campground in Oakland

Hello everybody ! I'm planning a nice trip this April and I need some tips I hope someone is gonna answer me. First of all, I'm coming to Oakland alone and I'm coming with just my backpack and a tent. I plan to stay maybe a month or two and I want to know if someone knows a great campground to stay near maybe the A'S Stadium because I'm a huge baseball fans or maybe near a nice beach. My budget is around 1500 $. Thanks! If someone have advice or tips don't be shy!

There aren't any campgrounds around the Oakland Coliseum (the A's stadium) and you wouldn't want to stay there anyway, it's in the middle of an industrial district that's deserted at night. The East Bay Regional Park District has some campsites in the Oakland and Berkeley hills. I'd look at their website for limits on how long you could stay, I don't think you could stay two months. Also, some of the parks have nearby transit access, some don't, you have to see where campsites and buses come together.

In general, I think it's very difficult to camp and visit the Bay Area, it's just not set up for it.

There are very few campgrounds in Oakland or the Bay Area in general.

In fact, the only campground in Oakland is at Chabot Regional Park: http://www.ebparks.org/activities/camping

Chabot Regional Park is not accessible by public transit.

You'll have to stay in a hostel or short-term rental while you're here. Try these:

Many parts of Oakland are high-crime areas and completely inappropriate for the kind of travel you're doing. You do not want to be hanging around after dark on foot anywhere within 5 miles of the Oakland Coliseum. Please do your homework before heading to Oakland so you can stay safe. As you head out of town towards the suburbs, it gets much better.

Most campgrounds in California have a 2 week limit, so you'll have to move around.
