Long layover in OAK - what to do?

My daughter and I and her 8 month old have a long layover at OAK in January. (arrive 1:13 pm, leave 6 pm). Seems like a long time to spend in the airport - is there something we can do in that time and still get back to the airport for our flight? I am thinking of taking the BART to Fisherman's Wharf or something like that. Is there anything safe and fun in Oakland? Other suggestions? Thanks!

Office buildings? Ick! That is sad to hear!

I always enjoyed a stop in the Last Chance Saloon, with it wavy floor from the 1906 earthquake, the early morning vegetable market, checking out the marina boats. Even did a bit of Kayaking from there.

Great idea if the ferry schedule lines up!
