The best place to stay is in the Valley. Oakhurst is over an hour from the Valley and may be even longer with a slow RV (motorhome) and road construction delays. Groveland is well over an hour.

If you must have RV hookup for your rig, then look at the KOA in Midpines. It's on the YARTS bus route to the Valley. You'd have to pay each day to ride 50-60 minutes into the Park, but you'd be able to leave your RV.

But again, the Valley is the best place. But at this late date, I imagine all the campsites are reserved.

Tioga Pass will probably still be open so the best way to Death Valley is on Tioga Road through Tuolumne Meadows, exiting the Park at Tioga Pass, and south on Hwy 395. You'll need to make a stop along the way.

You probably want to repost in the California state forum for more suggestions. Put "RV" in your thread title so our TripAdvisor member who is knowledgeable about RVs will notice your thread.

Hello, pat17078 and welcome to TripAdvisor. We recently stayed near Yosemite in our RV, at Groveland. It is about a one hour drive to the main "valley" part of Yosemite from there. The road is good but does have some narrow, slow parts. We had wanted to stay at the KOA in Midpines, but they were full when we called to book a spot. If you stayed there and took the bus in to the valley, you could then ride the shuttle bus around the valley area and not have to fight for a parking space -- there is not much parking there!

Here are some websites that will help you find RV parks:

Two full days in Yosemite is probably enough, unless you do a lot of hiking.
