What are some of the better take out restaurants in Newport?

We will be in Newport Beach in a couple of weeks and would like to know of the better "take out " restaurants. Any kind of food will do.

There is better "take out" than fast food burger places. You will be near some high end markets with really wonderful take out food. Try Bristol Farms,Gelson's, Ralphs and Pavilions. Also there are Mexican Take-Out places like Taco Mesa and Chipotle. Panera Bread has nearby locations. Tell us what kind of food you like and we can point you to the best take-out location.

Where in Newport Beach will you be?

What kind of food, what price point?

Bristol Farms, Whole Foods and Gelson's are all pretty good calls for take out and they are all within a mile of each other in the Fashion Island/Newport Center area.

But you can probably get take out from any restaurant you like, it is just what do you want to pay and what are you looking for.

There are also many delivery systems like Restaurants on the Run.

Best take-out? Maybe Mario Batali's Pizzeria Mozza.

Here is what I recommend for the top local take out

1. Bear Flag Fish Company. Amazing fish tacos to go

3. In N Out. You have to try it while your in Socal

4. TK Burger. A locals favorite

5. Wahoo's Fish Tacos. Another local favorite

I am a Rubio's Fish Tacos fan, IMHO better than Yahoo's by far.

If you're in Corona del Mar, Panini has a family meal for 4 with chicken kabobs, rice and salad that's delicious. Check mypaninicafe.com and go to their catering menu. We like Z Pizza (several locations) and Johnny's pizza (Corona del Mar) for delivery and take out pizza. You can't beat a big take-out pan of Maggiano's pasta, but that's at South Coast Plaza, and you may already know Maggiano's in DC. Ho Sum Bistro's Ho Sum salad (a Chinese chicken salad) is one of my family's favorites (hosumbistro.com). I have to say that I'm not a fan of much else at the restaurant, but the salad is outstanding! They will let you take it home in a big bowl and return the bowl the next day. We also love to get platters at El Ranchito, which is in Corona del Mar and also on the Peninsula. (avilaselranchito.com)
