Beach Help!

Hello all!

My boyfriend and I will be arriving in Newport Beach from Alaska next Friday morning and plan to do absolutely nothing except veg on the beach for four solid days. The only problem is, we're not sure which beach will be "right" for us. We want somewhere fairly warm, (but being from Alaska in May, right now, anything above 50 is warm for us!!) and quiet as the way of screaming children go.

We don't mind driving a little farther away from Newport Beach to find our "perfect spot", either. Is there a nice spot anyone can recommend? Thank you in advance!! :)

There are city beaches located on the Balboa Pennisula. They are wide and sandy and if you sit near the Newport Pier or the Balboa pier then there are a number of restaurnats closeby for lunch.

Right now, you will have the beach to yourself since it is early in the season and not many people on the beach.

Further South, located in Corona del Mar, there is a vey nice city beach called Little Corona. There is a parking lot there and again there are eating places closeby. This beach is more intimate than the ones on the Pennisula.

A few more miles South is the beach located at Crystal Cove. This is a beautiful beach and where the movie "Beaches" was filmed with Bette Midler. AT one end of the beach are the old1920's cottages which were used in the movie and, also an excllent restaurant on the beach called the Beachcomber.

A few more miles South are the beachs in Laguna Beach. These are probably the most intimate and scenic beaches in Orange County.

The Main Beach is usually quite busy but poplular with the volleyball and basketball people. There are lovely walks from main beach towards Heisler Park with some stunning views of small coves and down the coast towards San Diego.

Further South and lcoated near the 5 star Montage Hotel is Aliso Beach with parking and services closeby. This is a beautiful intimate beach with nice tidepools.

Further South, and near the hospital is 1000 steps beach(park on Coast Hwy) which is very intimate and romantic, but a walk back when you climb the steps.

Further South is Salt Creek Beach, DAna Point. This again is a beautiful wide beach located below the Ritz Carlton hotel and excellent for surfing.

After that is Doheny Beach in Dana Point and hen all the San Clemente beaches which are beautiful.

It all ends up at San Onofre which has both reguaar and nude beach.

Hope that this helps and don't you wish you had more time to visit them all.
