Hotel with a Baby on the Monterey Peninsula?

Hi all,

We will be in Monterey for two days, May 14-16, and need a hotel. I am looking for one where a 10 month old won't be too out of place... Any suggestions? We have a budget up to about $200 a night, if that helps.

Here are a few options:

Best Western Beach Resort Monterey: Right on the beach, restaurant on site. Non view rooms will be within your budget. They charge a resort fee and for parking.

Casa Munras

Monterey Bay Inn

Best Western Victorian Inn

Andril Fireplace Cottages in neighboring Pacific Grove: Woodsy area near Asilomar Beach. Great if you want to prepare some of your own meals, as they have kitchenettes.

Except for some Bed and Breakfast inns, some of which have minimum age limits, most lodgings are accustomed to having guests with children of all ages.

Here's a page I've put together to help you decide which neighborhoods might best suit your needs. You may find it helpful to narrow down your choices. www.montereypeninsula.info/guide/lodging.html

Yes, Monterey is definitely a family sort of place - Carmel is more geared toward romantic couples, but even still children are not out of place (except at places with age restrictions, as mentioned).

Portola Hotel is another place you might look at - the location between downtown and the water is great for walking - the coastal trail is right there, the beach to the left of fisherman's wharf is sandy with no waves (it is actually in the harbor, not on the bay, so very calm), you have restaurants close by and it is pretty centrally located, so coming back to the hotel for a nap is easy.

Monterey Beach Hotel is very family friendly and is oceanfront. :)
