California Tour 2012.

Me & my wife are visiting California this summer as part of our 25th Wedding Anniversary Celebrations; travelling the central coast Cabrillo Hwy by car; and looking for some expert advise for the 3 nights we are spending in Monterey.

With the exception of our accommodation booking we are looking for idea's of what to see and do during our stay.

We have a reasonably good budget and our interests extend to both being 'foodies', shopping (wife), museums (me), theatre, live gigs and drinking (both).

Help and suggestions would be gratefully received.

Monterrey is lovely. Monterrey aquarium is worth a visit. You could book to go whale watching Stroll around cannery row. If you like golf drive to pebble beach Casa munras hotel is nice. Stroll on the beach watch the sunset and the dolfins !

Shopping: Downtown Carmel has it all (unless your wife is a bargain shopper)

If she likes antiques--everything from jewelry to furniture--she should visit the Antique Mall on the corner of Wave and McClellan in Monterey.

1) Monterey Art Museum has two locations: http://www.montereyart.org/

Summer schedules are a bit sketchy, as most of the performances run through the fall and the spring. Here are a few possibilities:

It worth the 45-minute drive to Santa Cruz for their summer Shakespeare Festival. I don't think their schedule is out yet, but "google" it as the time comes closer.

Don't miss spending some time in Carmel! www.carmelcalifornia.com is a nice website for the area. There are some great restaurants in the area: Grasing's, Le St Tropez, Demetra Cafe, PortaBella and Casanova are a few of our favorites in Carmel. Have fun! :)

The 2012 Shakespeare Santa Cruz schedule will be announced tomorrow. Here is the website.

Thoroughly enjoyable, especially the outdoor performances in the Glen.

If you like museums, you may enjoy Monterey's path of History, a self-guided walking tour of historic sites, including several museums. http://www.mtycounty.com/pgs-path/apath.html

For live theater, we have lots of options. Three venues I highly recommend are Pacific Repertory Theater, the Outdoor Forest Theater, and Sunset Center, all in Carmel. See this page of mine for details. www.montereypeninsula.info/guide/entertan.htm
