Mendocino to LA-where to stay in between?

I am staying a couple of days in Mendocino and then heading to Los Angeles. I am wondering where would be a good place to stay for one night that would be about midway? The drive Mendocino to LA is too far to drive in one day so I would like to stop for one night. I was thinking maybe Carmel???

any input would be appreciated

thanks

Are you driving the coastal route or do you want to drive the fastest route? (i.e. Highway 5).

If coastal - Carmel or Monterey would be good choice.

If inland Highway 5 route - Harris Ranch.

If you're taking Hwy 1 down you might check out the Blue Bird Motel in Cambria. . . . It's clean, quiet, inexpensive, and has a great staff. It's reviews can be found on Tripadvisor. . . .

Drive safe. . . .
