Hi, I want to spend my one and only day in LA riding along the coast. I am not really into the whole Hollywood amusement park on my own and I prefer to do something active with people watching. Plus I LOVE the beach. But I am not a top biker, I only learnt last year. So I definitely don't want to be in traffic with cars. Just want to take bike path. Also relatively flat as I will be jet lagged. I thought I would start from Venice beach and ride up to Santa Monica as it seems to be what a lot of people do. But that sounds like nothing at all (7kms - I do that in less than an hour over here) and I want to keep myself busy for a day.
Also can someone tell me if the Stand bike path is definitely a bike path all the way and suitable to be ridden on its own by a 'single white female' (people keep on telling me LA is dangerous) because then maybe I should go to Santa Monica, start from there and see how far I go.
I am staying the night at LAX. So another problem is how to get from LAX to Venice beach or Santa Monica or wherever I should start riding and back. The metro system, well, I looked into that too and it confuses me a lot.
So if someone can tell where the easiest place to get to by public transport form LAX without getting murdered (okay I exaggerate, maybe just mugged) is and where I could start a fun day of riding with seeing some of the beach scenery of LA, that would be fantastic. :-)
Thanks in advance. Katia
