Here's a map of the airport, showing the pedestrian route from terminal 7 (marked "A") to terminal 2 (marked "B"): http://tinyurl.com/cmqxs2t

The entire route is flat and on paved sidewalks. Google estimates the walk at 7 minutes

Alternatively, you can wait for the free "airline connections" shuttle bus which pulls up to the 'traffic island' in the roadway in front of each terminal. Look for the BLUE overhead sign on the island that says: "LAX Shuttle Airline Connection". If you take the bus, it will follow this route (due to the one-way streets in the airport): http://tinyurl.com/caznyg7

This bus ride would take 2 to 3 minutes (or more, if there was an exceptional amount of traffic in the airport) but, the bus doesn't go directly to terminal 2; it will stop twice on the way -- first, at terminal 8 (to the east of terminal 7) and then at terminal 1 to the east of terminal 2. Each stop will take 2 minutes or so since the bus will need to make its way through the traffic (or wait for a free space on the 'traffic island') in order to pull over.

So, that's an extra 4 minutes added to the 3 minutes for a total 'transfer time' of 7 minutes -- the same amount of time that it will take to walk to terminal 2.

But, there is one more delay factor associated with the bus. That is, that it runs only once every 5 or 10 minutes. So, it's likely that you'd have to wait (on average) 2 or 3 minutes for it, making the total transfer time 'by bus' at around 9 or 10 minutes.

So, when you emerge from terminal 7, look over at the 'traffic island' and see if the 'Airline Connections" bus is parked there or about to pull up. If it is, get on it; if it's not, start walking.
