The very closest one within walking distance is the Raddison which gets mixed reviews. It would be ok for one night I'm sure. My favorite is the Embassy Suites South.

Most of the hotels near the airport are within a 5 or 10 minute ride form the terminals. If you want THE BEST hotel, you have a few choices. Hotels are located in 2 areas:

1. To the east of the airport in the 'westchester neighborhood'

2. To the south of the airport in the 'city of El Segundo'.

The highest-rated hotel in Westchester is the Sheraton Gateway: tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review-g32655-d78046-R…

This is a 3-1/2 star property in a congested part of Westchester, just to the east of the airport's entrance.

The highest-rated hotel in El segundo is the 30-star Hilton Garden Inn: (link and SCROLL DOWN for reviews in the center column):

This hotel is located in a quiet, residential area to the southeast of the airport

A lot of the LAX hotels have free shuttles from the hotel to the airport. Makes it MUCH easier than trying to walk with luggage. When you narrow down your search, check to see if you've got one with the free shuttle bus.

Agree you should use a hotel with a free shuttle. Most have them and it will be a lot easier. LAX is spread out, luggage is heavy, etc....

I would say there are no hotels that are really walking distance from the terminals.

A lot of the hotels offer free shuttles. Look at the Hilton Garden Inn El Segundo, the Embassy Suites (both of them), Four Points, the LAX Marriott and the Westin LAX.

I always suggest the Hilton Garden Inn in El Segundo. It's not really in a residentual area, but in a quiet business park setting. It has a lovely patio area and swimming pool, restaurant and pantry on site.

The shuttle will take you to Manhattan Beach for shopping and restaurants.
