3 Days in LA

Hi everyone!

So in around September we (family of 4, daughter age 15, son age 13) are going to LA for around 3-4 days.

We want it to be a relaxing trip (before heading to Vegas/ Orlando).

We have a rough idea of where we want to go but we're not sure if we can squeeze in that many places...

- Disneyland in Anaheim

- The Grove, shopping

- Santa Monica - Third street promenade, Pier

- Hollywood (?)

Staying at Beverly Hilton, Beverly Hills

We are arriving at LAX at 2:45pm on the first day... we have 3 FULL days then on the fourth we are leaving early in the morning, 6:50am.

Itinerary ideas?

Also, what's the weather like during mid- september?

Thank-you so much, all!

September can be the hottest month of the year. Everyone is expecting warmer, cooler weather and bam you get hit with a high pressure system stuck over the basin that can send temps upwards of high 90's. In fact, record highs are highest for Septembers than any month of the year. Check the forecast beforehand and you should have an idea...

Anaheim and Disneyland will easily take up a whole day.

Since you'll already be in Bev Hills/Century city your best shopping bets are Century City Shopping Center and Rodeo. Beverly Center is nearby and nice. The grove is sort of weird. It's just the same old same old chain stores and small. You walk through it in about 20-30 minutes. The farmers market is a great palce to eat but beyond that there's nothing special about the grove. Century City Shopping center is much nicer and more where locals shop...hitting all of these could easily eat up a full day.

Santa Monica and Venice can make a nice third day. Really pretty to walk along the beach as well as explore third street. The pier is nice enough but it skews towards really little kids. The rides are more for the 10 and under set. You didn't say how young your kids are.

Hollywood is sort of a let down for most folks. The walk of fame an Graumans Chinese Theater are very underwhelming. Best way to incorporate Hollywood in your tour is the Warner VIP tour. This is a trues studio tour unlike the universal canned one (which is still really fun in its own way...) Doing the two things with the afternoon in hollywood for lunch could be a good choice...

Michael-and-J, if I can tag along on this post, following the itinerary that you suggested about WB Studio and Hollywood, where would you recommend as possible lunch spots in Hollywood?
