Is it a good idea to stay in Thousand Oaks?

We are planning to drive from SF to LA in Late March this year. Is it a good place for the family with 2 boys to stay for 2 night if we are planning to go to the following place.

- Camarillo Premium Outlets

- Fred Kavli Theatre

- Griffith

- Six flags magic mountain

Any help would be appriecated.

Hi. Thousand Oaks is really just a suburban area without much to do directly in the town. But you will be right where the Fred Kavli Theater is.

You will be close to the outlets in Camarillo, but you will be an hour away from Magic Mountain by way of two of the busiest freeways in Southern California (the 101 and the 5).

You might consider staying in Valencia one night when visiting Magic Mountain.

I'm not sure what 'Griffith' is or I'd have given you info there too.

Happy Travels

If you meant the Griffith Park Obsveratory, it is closed until May 2006 for renovation. You can still visit the Griffith Observatory Satellite in the northeast corner of Griffith Park. That is near the LA Zoo if you plan to go there also. Just on the other side of the hill from Burbank.

Yes, Griffith Park Obsveratory is my plan.

Is it still worth to go there for the night scene of LA? What is the best time for night scene of LA over there?

Haven't been to the Griffith Park Observatory ever since it is closed for renovation. If you want to see great views of LA, go to the Getty Center. If you mean, what to do during the evening in LA, there is the Universal Citywalk, the Grove is also nice with the dancing fountains, and 3rd Street Promenade in Santa Monica is also nice in the evenings.

As someone already mentioned, Thousand Oaks is mostly suburban and residential area. It is close to the Camarillo outlets. Six Flags Magic Mountain is a little further drive and located in Valencia, CA.
