Bus Service from Hollywood to LAX

The 4 of us intend to ride a bus from Union Station to LAX. Heard it cost $4.00 per person only. Does anyone know how reliable this service is?

Also how far to walk from Hollywood Orchid Suite Hotel (17530 Orchid Ave Hollywood 90028) to Union Station?

Also is there other bus service from Anaheim to Hollywood (to Union Station)? and the costs? Heard super shuttle is not reliable. Just wonder whether taxi will be cheaper since there are 4 of us?

1. Re: Bus Service from Hollywood to LAX

The Union Station Flyaway Bus is quite reliable It transfers in both directions between LAX & Union Station, every 30 minutes for much of the day and night (and then once per hour in the late evening/early morning).

Union Station is in downtown L.A. The Orchid Suites is in Hollywood (a different neighborhood entirely). The distance between them is 7.5 miles (11 km) so the walk would take several hours!

Alternatively, you could take the red line metro rail (the Hollywood & Highland station is 2 or 3 blocks from your hotel) to Union Station. The fare is $1.25. The trains run every 11 minutes and the ride takes 21 minutes.

Regarding service from Anaheim to Hollywood, you have a few options:

1. There is a bus (the metro #460) that picks up in the shuttle area of Disneyland and makes local stops on the way to downtown L.A. The fare is $2.45 and the ride takes between 90 and 120 minutes (depending on traffic/day of the week/time of day). One of its stops in downtown L.A. is near the corner of Flower St & 7th St, where you can transfer to the red line metro rail at the "7th St/Metro Center Station. If you are returning to your hotel from this point, take the red line train toward "North Hollywood" and get off at the Hollywood & Highland stop. The fare is $1.25 and the ride takes 15 minutes.

2. There are 2 above-ground rail companies that serve the route from Union Station to Anaheim/Fullerton (Disneyland area). Info about these transfers are in our FAQs section at the top of the TOPIC LIST (look under AMUSEMENT PARKS)

Transfer time from Union Station to the DL area rail stations is about 35 minutes. You will then need to take a taxi or bus to DL (10-15 minutes; $1.25 (bus); $10 (taxi). Of course, you'll need to add the red line metro rail ride between your hotel and Union Station to determine the complete transfer time.

A taxi would be less expensive than 4 individual riders on a Supershuttle van. (I have not heard any consistent complaints about Super Shuttle not being reliable. In fact, it is usually Prime Time Shuttle (their competitor) that gets most of the negative reviews (but even those are relatively rare).

Just keep in mind that if there are 4 of you traveling with 8 or more suitcases (carry-ons, etc), you will need a "large taxi", rather than a standard one. So, if you order a taxi from your hotel to LAX, be sure to request a large taxi.

Thanks for your valued info.

Just wonder how many kilometer is Anaheim from Hollywood? Do we pay a fixed price for a taxi? Would it be more than US$60.00 per taxi? Otherwise if one get caught in the traffic jam one would have to pay a fortune for the taxi fare.

Taxi from Hollywood to Anaheim easily would top $100+. It is a good hour drive one way

You could take the Subway from Hollywood to Union Station and the train(either Amtrak or Metrolink) to Anaheim from there.

The Anaheim station is a short bus or taxiride to Disneyland

Another option would be to take the Sybway to 7th/metro in downtown L.A. and take the #460 Metro Express bus from there directly to disneyland
