Whale watching

We're visiting Long Beach in about 10 days time and see they do whale watching trips from Long Beach. Does anyone know what the likelihood of seeing whales is at this time of the year as we're only staying for a couple of days and don't want to waste a few hours of the trip if there's not much chance of seeing anything? We were in Vancouver in the summer and were unfortunate on the 2 occassions we tried then so don't want to have the same disappointment.

You will probably see whales if you go. Please understand whales are at a distance, this is not where you can reach out and touch the whales(as some Long Beach web sites show).

I agree with Offroad. The likelihood of seeing whales is good, but nothing is guaranteed.
