Last week we had the privilege of going to Lodi for the afternoon. We started our day off at the Wine and Roses Restaurant and Hotel for lunch. A very nice property with a fantastic restaurant, very pretty and everyone was very friendly there. I had the Pasta alla Carbonara with Duroc Pork Smoked Breast, Fresh Yolk and Pecorino Ramano. Very rich and delicious! A glass of local Old Vine Zin paired nicely with this.
After lunch I toured the spa there which is gorgeous. The Visitor's Center is adjacent to the hotel and we went there for wine tasting and our pourer did a nice narration of the history behind the mural on the wall there. All of the wines we sampled were excellent! We purchased a bottle of the Klinker Brick Old Vine Zin.
Next stop was Jessie's Grove. A small winery with fantastic wines and a nice gift shop. Abundance was our next stop for wine tasting in Lodi. Another small winery with a very good selection of white wines. We found the wines in Lodi to be exceptional, especially all of the Old Vine Zin that we sampled.
Short but very sweet first visit to this area. This weekend we will be in the Sonoma wine country, can't wait! :)
