Here are reviews about the hill that might be helpful: (Link and scroll down for the reviews).

The cloest rail station is in Irvine (about 11 miles away -- a 20 minute taxi ride (without traffic)). The rail trip via Metrolink (Metrolinktrains.con) takes about an hour and costs between $4.25 and $8.25 depending on the day traveled. The national train system, Amtrak (amtrak.com) also covers that route. Their trains also take about 1 hour and costs $13 each way. There are some interesting things to see and do in downtown L.A. (the rail station -- Union Station -- is located in the downtown area).

However, if you wish to visit other parts of the city, you will need to venture northwest (via metro rail) into Hollywood or west toward the beach (by bus). Metro rail travel into Hollywood takes between 15 and 20 minutes.

There are numerous places of interest in between those areas. like Beverly Hills, for example.

Bus travel to Santa Monica (the beach) takes about an hour. You can buy a DAY PASS for $3 that will allow unlimited access to the metro rail and metro bus systems.

Ok, I'm not concentrating today. My prior posting should have begun with:

Here are the REVIEWS of your hotel (and it should have included a link like this one:)

The Inn at Laguna Beach is our FAVORITE place to stay (shhhhhhh!). We've been going there every spring break for the past 7 years (and we are very picky about aesthetics, cleanliness, and service). Relax and enjoy the pool, the beach, and coastal hiking.
