Accommodation at Laguna

Hello

We are looking at a staying at Laguna Beach for a couple on nights in September. We are a family of 2A and 2C. As don't need to stay on the beach directly or have ocean views but would like a short walk to a beach that is suitable for kids with restaurants and amenities close by. Our budget is no higher than $200US a night. A pool and AC is a must.

I was researching Laguna Riviera and The Tides but reviews seem really mixed with lots of noise issues and poor quality rooms. Any other suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

Room for 4 within walking distance of everything with a pool and A/C for $200 total is not realistic. Please note that few of even the most expensive hotels in Laguna Beach have A/C. And because of proximity to the ocean, not all hotels have pools. Also, taxes are charged on all room rates.

Laguna Riviera definitely has character, it's creaky and lodge-like, classic California beachfront funk. We used to love it there but haven't been for years.....you couldn't ask for a better location on the beach.

Tides is across a busy road from the beach so yes, some rooms will have traffic noise late into the night.

The Marriott in Dana Point is a 15 minute drive south from Laguna Beach and is perched above a beach. It might have rooms around $200.

You very seldom need A/C in Laguna Beach. Check the Art Hotel, Emerald Bay Inn, Laguna Beach Beach House and The Edge Hotel.

>>>Laguna Riviera has very mixed reviews.<<<

Laguna Riviera has mixed reviews because they do not understand why they are paying the rates they do. It is based on location, not the hotel's star ratings.

If you understand that it is very basic, not the Ritz....... it is fine.
