We are planning on staying at Hotel la Jolla? What is the closest kid friendly beach to that hotel?

La Jolla shores has a great beach front playground, The cove will be good for your kiddos to but no flotation devices allowed there. Welcome to Lj. Ps piattis which I highly recommend for you is near your hotel. Make a res on open table.com. The paperdelle pasta is to die for.

La Jolla Shores is the closest. Just about 1/2 a mile.

33lisaw953,

Welcome to TA and the San Diego forum. I see this is your first forum post, and you may want to repost your question as its own topic by clicking on the "Ask a question" box in the San Diego forum. Piggybacking questions in one post can often confuse responses.

When you do repost, it would be helpful to know what your budget is or how you define "not too pricey." Beachside hotels are pricey during the summer season.

I'm guessing you're going to the One Direction concert at the Sleep Train Amphitheater on Sunday, Aug. 4th.

I recommend that you stay in the Mission Beach / Pacific Beach area (or even Old Town even though it's not beachside). It's a 25 mile / 40 minute drive from PB to Sleep Train Amphitheater. From Oceanside, it's 50 miles. Traffic on Sunday shouldn't be much of an issue, but it might be a consideration after the concert.

There is the "faux" beach at Aquatica Chula Vista next door to the Sleep Train Amphitheater (they share the parking lot).

SeaWorld has rethemed the water park, but it is still inland. Maybe a Hotel/Motel in the area, and then a day in Imperial Beach area, and/or the Silver Strand Beach area.
