August 16 visit

Hi,

We awere planning on passing through the area in Mid-August. Thinking of staying at Maple's McCambridge because they are pet friendly. Just heard about the fires in that area though. How bad is it? Of course our first concern is for people's safety but we also don't want to waste a precious vacation night if the area is all burned up.

Thanks, Karen

Hi Karen

According to the Bakersfield Californian, the fire is only 12 percent contained, so it's going to get worse before it gets better. Don't know exactly where the fire is in relation to where you are staying, but if you decide to keep your plans, you're likely to to see some fire damage and smell the charred remains left in the fire's wake. So far, I haven't heard of any injuries, but several homes have been lost.

Thank you for the resonse. The link to the newspaper is very helpful. We are really torn about what to do though. We were looking forward to visiting that area but maybe it is not such a good idea at this time. I guess we will just keep checking the news and make a decision as we get closer to our vacation date. Thanks again, Karen
