Huntington Beach to LA

We are going to be staying in Huntington Beach in August with some family and during our trip as treat we have booked a night at the Beverly Wilshire Plaza and we were just wondering which would be the best way to get to the hotel. Is there a bus we could get to LA then a cab to the hotel or is there a train? Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for all your help:)

Private town car or shuttle are your only practical solution. There are no trains near either, buses would take forever.

Scott's right. One strategy you might try is to take an LAX shuttle back to the airport and then take another shuttle from LAX to the Beverly Plaza. The public transportation option would involve taking OCTA Bus#1 to Long Beach, then the Metro Blue Line to Downtown Los Angeles and then a bus from there. About 3 hours total.

There is a train/subway/bus combination that will get you there but it will take many hours. Here are the details:

Your family will need to take you to the Metrolink train station at either Irvine, Santa Ana or Anaheim:

The Metrolink will take you to the Union Station in downtown LA. from there, you take the Metro (subway) Red Line and a bus. That will get you to the hotel and you will see a lot of Orange County and LA in the process.

Note that Union Station is a short walk from Olvera Street and some excellent Mexican restaurants if you're hungry and don't have a lot of luggage to carry.
