Transportation from Del Mar to San Diego

Is there another way to travel to San Diego other than car? A shuttle or train.? We will have our car but thought it would be nice not to drive. Thank you

There is no train station in Del Mar any more.

Not sure why you wouldn't drive as it is a short easy one.-maybe 20min+a little depending on where exactly you are headed.

IF you are going to Balboa Park or the zoo there is free parking.

IF you are going to Old Town there is free parking.

IF you are going to La Jolla there is free parking.

IF you are going downtown you can park in the Horton Plaza Mall for 3 hrs. free.

Just validate your parking ticket in a machine.

You can also park for 2 hrs. free at Seaport Village.

Sooooo where would you like to go????

There are many reasons someone might not want to drive, though parking charges is definitely one.

From Del Mar, you can take Breeze bus 101 on Camino del Mar a short distance north to the Solana Beach train station. From there you can take either a Coaster commuter train or an Amtrak train to Downtown San Diego. Amtrak runs nonstop from Solana Beach to San Diego.

From the Santa Fe Depot you can walk to pretty much anywhere in Downtown, catch a trolley to Old Town, or walk a few blocks east on Broadway and catch the #7 bus to the zoo.

The Solana Beach station also has parking, so bojangs could drive and park the rental car at the station rather than hassling with the Route 101 bus. The Route 101 bus is fine; it's just a bit slow.

Thank you all for the information. I like the idea of the train station. Some days we will drive especially at night. Thanks again
