Whale Watching Tours

Advice please!

Which tour company to go with & why?

Capt. Dave looks good but is more expensive than others - are they worth the extra?

Thanks in advance.

There is a reason they are more expensive. They are a better tour. They are worth the extra money.Dave is a local whale expert, in fact ,he took part in a whale rescue in Dana Point Harbor a couple months ago.

Typically during whale watching season(gray whale migration Nov-Mar) the tours are done on large fishing boats that carry huge numbers of people.Capt Dave runs his tours on a small catamaran,so you get a more personal tour. You can see the wildlife thru an underwater viewing pod,or stand on the trampoline on the bow and have dolphin swim underneath you.

Capt Dave also does tours year round, most don't. During different times of year, you will see different types of whales. If you look at their website, you can see a running total of the types and numbers of creatures they see.

Take the tour,its really good.

Capt. Dave is the best! Great guy, very professional and a very unique vessel.

I believe that when IMAX made the movie 'Dolphins' Capt. Dave was the one that took the film crew out to find pods of dolphins.
