kayak MB or Elkhorn slough?

Just wondered if Elkhorn is easier than MB? We are inexperienced kayakers-read never kayaked b-4-so is Elkhorn recommended? And which kayak outfitter runs out of Elkhorn Slough...Thnx

Though I don't profess to be an expert, I think that the Slough is easier because it's calm and flat . Plus, you will have amazing views of the wildlife. You have to respect them, of course, and keep a certain distance, but you will see many more otters, seals, etc. in a small area in the Slough. Here are two companies:

another vote for Elkhorn, You paddle out of the marina and immediately turn east back under the highway and away from any ocean waves. Then you can go way up into the slough for bird watching. On the way you will see dozens of harbor seals and the occasional sea lion. One time I brought a fleet of cub scouts in there and as we were paddling east, along came a "raft" of sea otters swimming along on their backs attached one to another. As we stopped to watch they just ducked under our kayaks and resurfaced on the other side. Cool. Of course you are forbidden to approach marine mammals, but no problem if they approach you. Just stop paddling. You do have to watch the currents and wind to get back to the dock on time. Much more to see and enjoy than open ocean paddling.
