Boulder Creek to Monterey

We are travelling by car from Boulder Creek to Monterey in July. As this is our first visit to California, we would really appreciate some tips on what to do during our journey from Boulder Creek to Monterey where we will spend the night!

Youl'll go through Santa Cruz, which has the Boardwalk, wharf, beaches, and an interesting downtown. Capitola has a nice area with shops and restaurants at the beach. Aptos is also nice. If you want to stop for some great clam chowder, Phil's at Moss Landing is the place. Also at Moss Landing is Elkhorn Slough which is great for wildlife.

Yes, the tour of elkhorn slough is a great idea. a nice way to see wildlife in the wild. the aquarium is good too but a different experience.

in the Monterey area we like to stay at Asilomar and eat at the fishwife.

the rio grill in Carmel is wonderful but pricey.
