lodging recommendations - carmel by the sea or carmel valley

Planning on having a reunion with girlfriends and their families - and need good vacation rental recommendations for upto 6 adults and 5 kids - 2 nights. Ready to spend a bit for a good place. Carmel by the sea or Carmel - valley?

Carmel Valley Ranch has had a very good remodel. I went there last summer with families and kids. There is golf, tennis, swimming and spa onsite. In the summer, it is warmer in Carmel Valley than in the town of Carmel which can be socked in with fog. If you are going in the fall or a time when there is less fog, then stay in the town and hang out at the beach.

Have you checked Vacation Rentals on the left side of this site? Also, another suggestion, www.vrbo.com. I'm guessing you don't want a hotel situation. A two night vacation rental may limit your choices. If a hotel is doable, let us know your budget.

A few more things about Carmel Valley Ranch that I forgot to mention - they have fire pits at night and marshmellows for roasting - that was a hit with the kids. They also have bocce ball courts where all the adults and kids can play together. There is a designated swimming pool for young children, and a splash zone for kids too. Oh, and a new gym and exercise classes (although, we didn't bother with those...). Have fun.

Adding - that we are looking at mid March - wondering if it will be too cold by the sea?. Budget is flexible - good experience is what we are looking for. Hotel is okay - but given 3 families a home seems more cozy than 3 rooms - but a quaint B&B may work too if it is in walking neighborhood.

Have a look at weather.com for March Forecasts. The weather is going to be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than Sunnyvale

B&B for kids and families. You will have to book an entire B&B with lots of rooms .

What have you found with your vrbo.com search. That will be the best way to go. B a kitchen would come in handy instead of trying to find restaurants for all meals.

The valley vs an ocean view will be dictated more by price and where you want to spend your time
