Carmel/Big Sur in late Feb.

Planning a trip to San Franciso in late Feb and want to spend an overnight driving down to see Carmel and Big Sur. Wondering if the weather will be ok for hiking and if you have any recommendations for a hotel/inn with 2 teens. We're only able to spend one night so are looking for a hotel under $250. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

We recently stayed at Hotel Pacific in Monterey. The rooms are spacious and very pretty. Breakfast is included with your room. :).

The Portola in Monterey is a good hotel in a good location - near the water, wharf, etc. It should be well within your budget.

As for weather - who can tell? It is winter, so it could be really stormy or it could be sunny and in the 70s.

http://www.andrilcottages.com/ You can get a two-bedroom cottage in your price range in a beautiful setting in Pacific Grove. As for the weather, as November Moon said, it's hard to predict. That's near the end of our rainy season. You should be able to hike unless there is a late major storm.

For accomodations in Big Sur check out the Big Sur River Inn or Glen Oaks. in Carmel check out Hofsas House and Carmel Mission Inn.

"You should be able to hike unless there is a late major storm."

And since we have only had a teeny-tiny amount of rain so far, we have our fingers crossed for several late storms.
