Is there a vineyard near Cambria?

Hi,

We'll be traveling up the coast spending a night in Santa Barbara, Cambria and either Carmel or Monterey next month (suggestions welcome if any better alternatives).

I would like to squeeze in a vineyard along the way if possible and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

So, three nights in all? That sounds fabulous. The Paso Robles wine country, an increasingly popular "wine destination", is just inland from Cambria, and is a quick and easy drive. A lovely country road (#46) winds thru the hills between Cambria and Paso Robles, and it is filled with wonderful wineries. Look at the Paso Robles forum for many posts on this topic.

There is also a major wine area in north Santa Barbara County.

Laetitia Winery is right off Highway 101 between Nipomo and Arroyo Grande. Easy off/easy on.

In addition to Monterey and Carmel, there's also Pacific Grove, which is in between the other two towns and is less touristy in comparison. PG has several lovely B&B's if that interests you. Some with gorgeous views of Monterey Bay: Seven Gables Inn, Green Gables Inn, Martine Inn

Close to cambria side, Hunt Winery is a small winery but nice tasting. There are so many wineries in the Paso Robles area. Sounds like you just want a name of a couple....

I've also given you the web for the area - but its large....

Carmel Valley is where many of the wineries are in Carmel.

One of the closer ones to drive to Chateau Julien

Another option would be to take route 154 from Santa Barbara through Los Olivos and stop at a winery there. It's a short drive back to the 101 freeway to continue your journey north to Cambria from there.

Laetitia is a lovely choice. Ultra convenient and nice wines. Our hotel in Cambria had coupons for free tastings at some of the wineries in the area. You may want to call ahead and see if yours offers this as well.

Laetitia is a very nice choice. In Carmel Valley we love Chateau Julien, Georis and Robert Tallbott. Corkscrew Cafe, adjacent to Georis is a nice place for a meal in this area. Happy Travels! :)

If you really want to experience a wonderful coastal town, stay in Cambria. We have the Pacific Coast Wine Trail, 7 wineries from San SImeon to Cayucos, and there are local vineyards at Stolo and all along highway 46. Monterey/Carmel are very touristy and Santa Barbara is a big city. Cambria has quiet beaches, amazing hiking and walking, and the whole town is filled with unique shops, no chain stores, and all very artistic. If you really want to do something extraordinary, stay at Victoria's Last Resort and have dinner in...foodie heaven. If you go out, Black Cat Bistro has innovative local fare with complex flavor profiles and really great wine and beer pairings. If you like a simpler fare, Old Stone Station is great for fish and steak and wonderful lunch menu.
