So you got hooked for DUI and joined Trip Advisor to tell us about it?

The BAC level for DUI in CA is .08% unless you are under 21 (and are not allowed to purchase alchohol legally in the first place) -- at which point the level drops to .01%

Sounds like you are your own worst enemy. I hope you learned a lesson.

OP- You're from California so I hardly consider you a "tourist". All the DUI laws are well-publicized and you know the police attitude and culture in CA towards DUI. I'd personally worry about keeping my license rather than complaining on TA. I'm parent of a teen and IIRC the penalty for DUI under 21 is automatic license revocation for a long time (presuming you're under 21).

If the sheriff "popped" you, you were no doubt driving impaired or left an establishment the cops knew was ripe pickings.

wrong-you are considered driving under the influence with anything over .01% . Maybe you should read the relevant statutes.

Perhaps you could post the "relevant statutes" for us, desi87?

Surely you aren't referring to CA Vehicle Code 23154(a) , since that refers specifically to drivers *already on probation* for drunk driving . . .

23154. (a) It is unlawful for a person who is on probation for a

violation of Section 23152 or 23153 to operate a motor vehicle at any

time with a blood-alcohol concentration of 0.01 percent or greater,

as measured by a preliminary alcohol screening test or other chemical

test.

If someone is driving while intoxicated, I wholeheartedly support harassing them. They need to be harassed all the way to jail.

If you weren't deuce but were driving as though you were, you need to be harassed too.
