Halfway point from Bakerfield to Los Angeles w/out the grape

Hi,

We are trying to meet at a halfway point from Los Angeles to Bakerfield to meet up with family. The grapvine is closed and we will need to travel by way of the 14 to the 58. What would be the halway point between the two cities taking this route?

Is this for today? I5 has reopened after the brief closure due to snow & ice, hasn't it?

Gorman would seem a logical place. Maybe El Grullense Mexican restaurant? McDonalds? Not a lot of choices. A few more choices in Lebec, 7 miles closer to Bakersfield.

It was open with escorts this morning. I'm sure it will close again tonight, as we're expecting very cold weather again (will probably have ice on the road again). I guess Lancaster would be about halfway on the 14/58 route, but I don't know if that really works for you.
