New Years in Tyrol

Dear All,

We are plan on spending our 2. honeymoon in a Ski Resort.

Tyrol is one of the options.

I have been in Chamonix and the town was breathe taking.

So in Tyrol will I find the same experience.

As for skiing I am int. and my wife is Beginner snowboarders.

so what do you suggest.

Also dog sleeing and other activities prefered.

So dont think this just as a ski trip.

Best Regards.

Well for non ski activities then Seefeld is the obvious choice. However the skiing is not that great to be honest.

I would look at Lech, Ischgl or Kitzbuhel for the all round winter romantic experience with good skiing

As said above there is relatively little skiing in Seefeld although the village and setting is pretty.

I am a big Ischgl fan.

I holiday there 3 or 4 times a season. Ischgl has a rep as being one of the top apres ski/party towns along with St Anton and Sölden.

Ischgl would offer far more opportunities for int/beginners than St Anton or Sölden.

St Anton really offers more for the advance experienced skier.

Lech/Zürs is more exclusive.

Very picturesque area and maybe more the honeymoon feeling you are looking for. In Lech/Zürs much revolves around the Hotels including apres ski and eating/drinking. Huge majority of people are on half/full board. There are very few independant bars/restaurants.

Lech/Zürs and St Anton are on the same liftpass and there is a bus service from Zürs to Stuben/St Christoph to link in with the other ski area.

Your biggest restriction (assuming you can afford it) is that over the xmas/new year period most Hoteliers have a minimum number of nights - normally 6 or 7. In addition arrival/departure days may also be fixed.

e.g. As New years eve is on a monday it would not surprise me if over this period hoteliers were insisting on 29th - 5 Jan or even longer to take into account 6th Jan - 3 kings

Also important generally that you have something arranged for your evening meal on the 31st December. Check with your chosen Hotel or if on B&B only ensure you book somewhere well in advance
