Permits for Gorrila trekking in Bwindi ?

Hi all

We're planning an independent trip to see the gorillas.

1. How / where do we purchase the permits ?

2. Does cost of permit include a guide ?

3. How can we check availability for the permits for specific dates ?

Many thanks

Its not a problem.

Most folk would use a local tour outfit based in Kampala but you can do it independently.

1. Permits either on site in Bwindi or at UWA in Kampala. see 3.also

2. Permit gives you a place on a guided trip up the hill. You do not have to pay a guide extra but you should tip the 'helpers'. It gives a value to the Gorillas to the Local economy and these people really help you.

3. if you keep dates flexible you may stand more chance of getting a permit at short notice. This cannot be done in Kampala but you can go on standby in either Bwindi or Virungas. Be prepared for a wait.

good luck and enjoy!

Do consider a driver guide to get you to Bwindi. It adds so much more to the trip.
